Community of Practice

The Care Work partnership hosts an online Community of Practice (CoP). This CoP is open to those working in the social care sector (social workers, care providers, local authority staff, etc), people with lived experience (service users and family carers) and researchers.

CoP members are invited to monthly webinars to share research evidence, innovation and practice developments relevant to the adult social care workforce. Our previous webinars have featured guest speakers from the Department of Health and Social Care, Skills for Care, University of Salford and King’s College London. As a CoP member, you will receive advance information about webinar dates and speakers, and have access to the recordings and slides afterwards through our dedicated Teams channel. The Teams channel is also a platform for members to engage with each other outside of these monthly webinars, build connections and share knowledge.

Over time, we expect the format of the CoP to adapt to the needs and preferences of its members, meaning the more active you are, the better it will meet your needs. For example, as our community grows we may offer different webinar or workshop formats catering to the needs of specific social care workforce audiences (e.g. employers, workforce, researchers).

The CoP provides a platform for collaboration, and there is the opportunity for researchers to connect with the Care Work team if their project is aligned to one of our themes.
